Cooking and Food Processing with Silar® Microwave Absorbent Ceramics
ACM, LLC's Microwave Absorbent Ceramics are used in microwave food processing as Silar® Microwave Heating Elements and Silar® Microwave Cookware.
Silar® Microwave Heating Elements convert a standard microwave oven into a combination microwave convection oven, offering the following design advantages:
- Single power supply: Magnetron energy heats food along with Silar® elements, resulting in a combo oven requiring only one power supply
- Close proximity to food: Food can be placed close to Silar® elements, improving food texture
- Improved efficiency: Silar® elements “capture” excess microwave radiation and convert it into heat, increasing oven efficiency
- Diverse applications: Suitable for high temperatures, hostile environments or filtration applications
- Safety: Running the oven without food load? No problem! Silar® elements absorb excess microwave energy and convert it into heat, protecting your magnetron.
Benefits also include: no arcing or sparking with instantaneous rapid heating, no “acceleration period”, and no “runaway heat”. Silar® elements are durable, too, even if food gets splattered on them!

Silar® Microwave Cookware provides microwave-convection heating in a standard microwave oven within the cookware itself! Such cookware can:
- Enable a standard microwave oven to use microwave-convection cooking within the cookware
- Provide improved food texture compared to classic microwave cooking
- Allow radiant heat in close proximity to food, thereby providing crisping and browning ability.
